We will have to be up and about early in the freshness of the morning, to see the growing chicks. We can spend the hot afternoons indoors organising our notes, drawings and photos, watching documentaries or listening to recordings of songs and calls.
Summer is an excellent time to watch the aerial acrobatics of many birds of prey - eagles, kites, vultures, hawks.
At dusk, the nightjar begins its thrilling concert and spectacular low flights around our field station. Its eggs, laid on the ground, are pictured above.
